Chelsea started their Club World Cup journey with a strong 2-0 win against Los Angeles FC on Monday.
The game took place in Atlanta, but even though the stadium can hold 71,000 people, less than half of the seats were filled.
Only about 22,000 fans showed up.
Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez scored the goals for Chelsea, helping the team get off to a great start in Group D.
LAFC, one of three teams from the American MLS in the tournament, struggled to keep up.
Chelsea’s new player, Liam Delap, came off the bench and helped create the second goal.
The team is full of confidence after winning the UEFA Conference League and qualifying for the Champions League.
The match was played at 3:00 PM, which was good for fans watching in the UK but not so great for locals who had work.
That might explain the small crowd, even though tickets were made cheaper before the game.
Even though the LAFC fans, known as “ultras,” made some noise with drums and songs, Chelsea took control of the match early.
LAFC’s experienced goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, had to make several saves to keep the score down in the first half.
How the Goals Happened
Chelsea’s first goal came after striker Nicolas Jackson passed the ball to Pedro Neto, who made a great move to get past a defender and shot the ball into the net.
In the second half, former Chelsea player Olivier Giroud came on for LAFC, hoping to help his team score.
LAFC did have a chance when Denis Bouanga got through on goal, but Chelsea’s keeper, Robert Sanchez, stopped the shot with his foot.
Then, Liam Delap made his Chelsea debut and quickly got involved.
