Chelsea really want Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, but Borussia Dortmund just said “no” to their first offer.
The Blues offered €35 million (about £29.5 million), but Dortmund are asking for €50–60 million.
That’s around £42–50 million. Talks are still ongoing, and Chelsea are expected to make a new bid soon.
Gittens, who plays for England’s Under-21 team, wants to join Chelsea.
He even has a verbal agreement to play for them in the Club World Cup this summer.
But there’s a deadline on Tuesday—if the deal isn’t done by then, he can’t play in the tournament.
Chelsea are looking for new wingers, especially after deciding not to keep Jadon Sancho permanently.

Besides Gittens, Chelsea may bring in another striker.
They already signed Liam Delap, and are still interested in Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is on his way out. Arsenal want him and are ready to pay his £5 million release clause.
Chelsea are also interested in AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan, but they’ve made it clear they’ll only pay €15 million (about £12.6 million) for him.
Maignan turns 30 next month and only has one year left on his contract.
A Different Path for Gittens
Gittens’ journey has been a bit different from other young English stars like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who also played for Dortmund.
Gittens joined Dortmund at just 16 years old, after spending a short time at Manchester City.
He didn’t have as much experience as Sancho or Bellingham, but Dortmund believed in his potential.
