Manchester City hopes to win the Club World Cup again.

Manchester City is getting ready to compete in the Club World Cup after a tough season.
The tournament will be held in the United States, and the team is hoping to win and make their fans proud again.
What Went Wrong Last Season?
For the first time in eight years, Manchester City didn’t win any major trophies.
They lost the Premier League title to Liverpool, didn’t make it far in the Champions League, and were defeated in the FA Cup final by Crystal Palace.
This was very disappointing for a team used to winning.
Big Spending for a Fresh Start
To help the team improve, Manchester City spent a lot of money—over £100 million (about $135 million)—to sign new players.
Some of the new names include:
Earlier in January, they also added players like Omar Marmoush and Claudio Echeverri.
In fact, 9 out of the 27 players going to the Club World Cup are new to the team!
Famous players like Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish are not going to the tournament, showing that the team is changing.
New Coaches Too!
Coach Pep Guardiola also made some big changes to his staff.
He brought in Pep Lijnders, who used to help Liverpool’s coach, and former player Kolo Toure.
Guardiola said, “This is a very, very serious competition. In the summer, the whole world will be watching this.”
“A big number of the top teams in the world will be competing in this tournament and I can assure you, we’re going to give it our best shot. We’re going there to win it.”
Who Will City Face?
Manchester City will play in a group with:
- Wydad Casablanca (Morocco)
- Al Ain (United Arab Emirates)
- Juventus (Italy)
They are one of the favorites to win, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Star Player Returns
The good news is that Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or (best player award), is back after being injured.
When he got hurt last September, the team started losing more games.
Now that he’s back, many believe he can help lead the team to victory.
