Harvey Elliott, a 22-year-old football player for Liverpool, says he might need to make a big decision about his future.
He loves the club, but he also wants to play more often.
Last season, Elliott played 18 times in the Premier League, but only started two games.
Most of the time, he came on as a substitute. He played 28 games total in all competitions, scoring 5 goals and giving 3 assists.
That’s a lot less than the season before, when he played 53 times and had 11 assists.
“I’m getting older, and I don’t want to waste important years of my career,” Harvey said. “I love Liverpool, but I need to think about what’s best for me as a player.”
Elliott is currently playing for England in the Under-21 European Championship in Slovakia.
But when summer ends, he’ll talk with Liverpool to decide whether he should stay or go.
Liverpool might be signing another midfielder, Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. If that happens, Elliott could get even less playing time.
Elliott also had a serious foot injury in September and missed about three months.
He hoped that scoring a winning goal against PSG (a big French club) in the Champions League would give him more chances, but it didn’t change things.
“That goal in Paris was a high point,” he said. “I thought I might get to start the next match, but the coach had other plans. I respect him—he helped us win the league.”
