Liverpool Football Club really wants to sign a talented young football player named Florian Wirtz from a German team called Bayer Leverkusen.
Their hopes of landing Florian Wirtz have hit another wall.
They even offered a record-breaking £113 million to get him—that’s more than any other British team has ever paid for a player!
Bayer Leverkusen said “no” to Liverpool’s huge offer.
They’re asking for even more—around £118 million.
They know Wirtz is a great player and want to get the highest price possible before letting him go.
And while personal terms are thought to be no issue, the Bundesliga champions are in no rush to cash in.
Wirtz has also drawn interest from other European heavyweights, with Bayern and Real Madrid keeping tabs.
Wirtz is 22 years old and has been one of the best players in Germany’s top football league.
Last season, he helped his team win the championship by scoring 15 goals and making 16 assists in 45 games!
What Happens Next?
Even though the latest offer was rejected, there’s still hope.
Some reports say a deal could be close, and Wirtz might even get a medical check with Liverpool soon.
If that happens, Liverpool would break the British record for the most expensive player ever—beating the £106.8 million Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez in 2023.
But if it didn’t happpen, Liverpool may now be forced to look at alternatives — or come back with an even bigger bid
What About Wirtz’s Future?
Wirtz is playing for Germany’s national team and will be in a big match against France soon.
If he joins Liverpool, he might earn an incredible £355,000 every week! That’s a lot of money!
Liverpool didn’t buy many players last summer, so now they’re ready to spend big.
