Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes have received an unexpected boost after the league rejected Liverpool’s request.
Liverpool requested to reschedule their upcoming Merseyside Derby against Everton.
The decision means Liverpool will have little recovery time before their next fixture, potentially affecting their form as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
Premier League Rejects Fixture Change Request
Liverpool and Everton had both sought to move their April 2nd derby at Anfield to April 1st, hoping to gain more recovery time for their following matches.
A schedule adjustment would have particularly benefited Everton, who face Arsenal just three days later.
However, the Premier League refused the request, leaving both teams to stick to the original schedule.
The rejection adds further strain to Liverpool’s fixture congestion as they chase the title.
They currently hold a 12-point lead with just nine games remaining but have struggled in recent matches, suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.
Arsenal’s Title Race Intensifies
Arsenal, who had a shaky spell before the international break, will be hoping to capitalize on any slip-ups from their rivals.
Mikel Arteta’s side ended a three-game winless streak with a crucial victory against Chelsea and will be looking to build momentum as they host Fulham and Brentford before their clash with Everton.

The Gunners also have a potential boost in the return of Bukayo Saka, who has been sidelined since December due to hamstring surgery.
Arteta remains optimistic about his star player’s recovery, stating, “The only thing we can do is try to win our matches. If we do, we are in a better position.”
Liverpool Feeling the Pressure?
Liverpool’s recent European exit and Carabao Cup final loss to Newcastle have raised questions about their ability to maintain form under pressure.
Manager Arne Slot admitted that back-to-back defeats are tough to handle but remains confident in his squad’s resilience.
