On the final day of the Premier League season, Brighton & Hove Albion gave their fans something to cheer about with a big 4–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

But sadly, even this exciting victory wasn’t enough to help them qualify for European competitions next season.

What Happened in the Match?

Tottenham started strong. In the 17th minute, they were awarded a penalty when Brighton’s Mats Wieffer fouled Mathys Tel.

Dominic Solanke stepped up and scored, giving Spurs a 1–0 lead.

But the second half was all about Brighton.

Jack Hinshelwood, a 20-year-old midfielder, scored two goals — one right after halftime and another with a stylish backheel in the 64th minute.

Matt O’Riley added a third goal from the penalty spot.

In extra time, Diego Gómez curled in a beautiful long-range goal — his first ever for Brighton.

Brighton finished the game with four unanswered goals.

Why the Win Wasn’t Enough

Brighton ended the season in 8th place in the league.

Normally, that might be enough to earn a spot in one of Europe’s tournaments (like the Europa Conference League).

But this year, it wasn’t. Because of other results — especially Chelsea’s position and the Conference League outcome — 8th place didn’t qualify.

What About Tottenham?

Even though they just won the Europa League days earlier, this defeat reminded everyone how bad Spurs’ league season really was.

Tottenham finished in 17th place, just one spot above the relegation zone — which is very poor for a club of their size.

Coach Ange Postecoglou called the season “outstanding” because of the Europa League win.

But many fans and reporters think the team’s overall performance was disappointing.

There are rumors that the coach could be replaced, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Star Players of the Match

Jack Hinshelwood stood out the most with two goals. He’s a young player with a bright future.

Kaoru Mitoma, who came off the bench, helped turn the game around by adding speed and energy to Brighton’s attack.

Diego Gómez scored the final goal, a powerful strike that showed great skill.
