Chelsea were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw after staging a second-half comeback against relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.

It was far from the result the Blues wanted in their push for Champions League qualification.

Despite bossing the early stages, Chelsea were left stunned as Ipswich grabbed two first-half goals against the run of play.

Julio Enciso opened the scoring, tapping in from a Ben Johnson cross before the pair flipped roles — this time Enciso picked out Johnson for a header at the back post to make it 2-0.

Things looked bleak for Chelsea heading into the break, but fortune turned just 20 seconds after the restart. Axel Tuanzebe turned the ball into his own net, gifting the hosts a lifeline.

Then came the moment of magic. Jadon Sancho, who came on to a chorus of jeers, silenced critics with a sublime equaliser in the 79th minute.

A quick corner routine saw Cole Palmer feed Sancho at the edge of the box, and the winger curled a beautiful strike into the top corner — his third league goal of the campaign.

Trevor Chalobah and Pedro Neto had chances to grab a winner, but Ipswich held firm, earning a valuable point.

Chelsea remain fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Nottingham Forest and narrowly ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.

Sancho Steps Up Under Pressure

Sancho’s time at Chelsea has been underwhelming, and his substitution appearance wasn’t warmly received — mostly due to Noni Madueke being taken off.

But the on-loan United winger proved his worth with a game-changing cameo.

His goal and an earlier dangerous cross that nearly resulted in a Chelsea winner were reminders of the talent he possesses.

Manager Enzo Maresca recently challenged Sancho to boost his goal contributions — and the winger answered in style.

Ipswich Shine Without Star Man Delap

With key forward Liam Delap out injured, there were fears Ipswich might crumble.

Instead, they showed fight and structure, with George Hirst filling in admirably. His hold-up play led to the first goal, and he came close to scoring one himself with a fierce second-half shot that flew inches wide.

Even when Delap came on later, clearly not fully fit, he showed flashes of brilliance.

The 22-year-old is already attracting interest from top Premier League sides — including Chelsea — and if Ipswich go down, his reported £30m release clause will surely be triggered.
