Chelsea’s efforts to sign a new striker this summer are hitting a major roadblock—and it’s not a lack of options, but money. Or rather, how the club is choosing to spend it.

With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Spurs all vying for top attacking talent, Chelsea are struggling to compete—not on transfer fees, but wages.

According to reports, at least one striker target has already rejected the Blues due to their lower salary offer, despite interest from a bottom-half Premier League club offering more.

Instead of high base wages, Chelsea’s current policy favors contracts loaded with performance-based incentives.

While it might make financial sense in the long term, it’s turning off potential signings in a competitive market.

Among Chelsea’s shortlist are Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Strasbourg’s Dilane Bakwa, and Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis—all promising talents, but pricy if wage demands can’t be met.
