Chelsea has intensified its search for reinforcements

Chelsea have submitted a £55 million bid to re-sign defender Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, a player they originally sold to Palace for £18 million in 2021.
According to a report from The Sun, the offer has been labeled as “silly” and falls significantly short of Crystal Palace’s valuation. The Eagles had previously rejected a £70 million bid from Newcastle United for Guéhi last summer.
Chelsea’s interest in Guéhi has intensified due to an injury crisis in their defense, with key center-backs Wesley Fofana and Benoît Badiashile sidelined. Manager Enzo Maresca is under pressure to strengthen the squad as the team has dropped from second to fourth in the Premier League standings.
Guéhi, who has 18 months remaining on his contract, has made over 100 Premier League appearances and earned 22 caps for England. Given the current situation, Chelsea is expected to increase their offer as the January transfer window progresses.

In addition to pursuing Guéhi, Chelsea is also considering recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace to address their defensive shortages.
