It has been a hell of a ride for Pep Guardiola and his team

Manchester City’s season has taken a sharp downturn, and questions are beginning to surface about Pep Guardiola’s future at the club.
After a goalless draw against rivals Manchester United, the defending Premier League champions now sit 21 points behind league leaders Liverpool and risk missing out on a Champions League spot for the first time in over a decade.
Currently sixth in the table, City are staring at their worst league finish since 2009/10.
With the club out of all knockout competitions except the FA Cup, some voices are calling for change—among them, beIN Sports anchor Richard Keys.

In his blog, Keys argued that Guardiola has failed to refresh the squad after four successive league titles.
“Guardiola fell asleep at the wheel,” he wrote. “He should’ve rebuilt the squad after their third title. They’re now a shadow of what they once were.”
He even suggested City should invite Guardiola to resign, saying:
“If I was in charge at City I’d invite him to announce his resignation. They need to go in a different direction now. They need fresh blood, a new start and I don’t think he’s the man to deliver it.”
The broader concern is that City are struggling to adapt to a Premier League that’s evolving beyond Guardiola’s possession-dominant philosophy.
Clubs like Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest have embraced quicker, more direct tactics—with pacey wingers, technical playmakers, and lethal finishers.
While Guardiola’s influence on English football remains undeniable, this season is testing his adaptability.
