As the January transfer window nears its conclusion, Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has emerged as a potential target for Crystal Palace.
With limited game time this season, the England international could be on the move before Monday’s 11 PM deadline.
Chilwell’s Struggles at Chelsea
Since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, Chilwell has found himself on the fringes at Stamford Bridge.
Despite staying at the club last summer amid transfer speculation, he has featured in just one match this season in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup victory over Barrow.
Palace in Need of Defensive Reinforcements
With Tyrick Mitchell being Palace’s only established left-back, manager Roy Hodgson is keen to add depth to the squad.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown confirmed the club’s interest, telling Football Insider:
We’ve heard Palace have shown interest in Chilwell. They need depth at left-back, and with limited options this late in the window, a move makes sense.
A loan deal could be on the cards, particularly after Trevoh Chalobah’s return to Chelsea freed up space in Palace’s squad.
