Nottingham Forest have paused all talks with Tottenham and are considering legal action, claiming Spurs made an illegal approach for Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his release clause.

Gibbs-White to Spurs? Not So Fast…

Just when it seemed like Morgan Gibbs-White was on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur, fresh reports from Sky Sports News suggest the deal has hit a major roadblock.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly stopped all communication with Spurs and are now consulting with lawyers over a possible legal complaint.

What’s the Issue?

According to Sky Sports, Forest believe:

Tottenham made contact with the player illegally—that is, without permission from Forest.

Spurs submitted a £60m bid, which is exactly the value of his release clause, leading Forest to believe there was a leak or breach of confidentiality.

As of now, the transfer is off the table until the matter is resolved.

Legal Action Incoming?

It’s unclear whether Forest can completely block the transfer, but they’re reportedly preparing to file a complaint to the Premier League.

This means the transfer will likely be delayed, even if it’s not totally cancelled.

Neither club has made an official comment yet, and things remain tense and uncertain.
