After an illustrious run with Manchester City, Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is heading to Napoli on a free transfer, signaling a new chapter in his career while staying at the top of European football.

✍️ Deal Done: De Bruyne to Napoli

De Bruyne, who recently expressed his belief that he can still perform at an elite level, has reportedly agreed to a move to Serie A champions Napoli, as confirmed by journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Napoli, already qualified for next season’s Champions League, sees the 33-year-old as a valuable asset in their bid to remain dominant both domestically and in Europe.

This move marks the end of a golden era at the Etihad, with Manchester City opting not to renew the midfielder’s contract.

Despite links to Chicago Fire in the MLS and even a potential return to the Premier League with Liverpool, De Bruyne has chosen to remain in Europe’s top tier.

💬 De Bruyne on Exit

Speaking in April, De Bruyne said:

“Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I’m showing, but I understand that clubs have to make decisions. Obviously, I was a bit surprised, but I have to accept it.”

🤝 A Reunion in Italy

In Naples, De Bruyne will team up with Scott McTominay, the former Manchester United midfielder who has become a standout star in Serie A.

McTominay was even named Serie A MVP in his debut season, capping it off by scoring a stunning acrobatic goal in the title-clinching match against Cagliari.

The duo’s midfield partnership could be key to Napoli’s ambitions both in Italy and in Europe.
