German side Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of 22-year-old defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool for £35 million.

The England Under-21 star signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Quansah played a key role for England in their U21 Euro final win over Germany just days ago.

This is the third transfer between Liverpool and Leverkusen this summer, following Liverpool’s earlier signings of midfielder Florian Wirtz and defender Jeremie Frimpong.

The centre-back made 58 appearances for Liverpool, scoring three goals.

He was part of the squad that won the League Cup in 2024 and helped Liverpool win the Premier League under new manager Arne Slot last season.

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, praised Quansah, saying he adds speed, strength, and confidence to their defence.

Pure Profit for Liverpool

Because Quansah came through Liverpool’s academy, the £35m fee will be recorded as full profit in the club’s books—an important factor under Premier League financial rules.

Newcastle had wanted Quansah last year in a deal involving Anthony Gordon, but Liverpool turned it down.
