Liverpool Football Club has signed Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million on a five-year contract.

The 24-year-old joins the team just after the club confirmed that long-time right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be leaving to play for Real Madrid in time for the Club World Cup.

Frimpong is expected to take over his position in Liverpool’s defense.

Frimpong helped Bayer Leverkusen win the German Bundesliga title in the 2023–2024 season and played in 53 matches across all competitions last season as they finished second.

He is known for his speed, strong attacking runs, and solid defending.
