Bayern Munich’s rising star Mathys Tel has turned down an opportunity to join Chelsea during the January transfer window, opting to remain with the Bundesliga champions.
Despite Chelsea’s approach, the 19-year-old French forward has made it clear to Bayern’s management that he has no intention of leaving Germany at this time.
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Tel sees his future at Allianz Arena and is focused on further developing under Vincent Kompany.
Chelsea’s Failed Swap Deal
In an attempt to bring Tel to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea explored a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku, which would have seen the former RB Leipzig playmaker return to Germany.

However, with Tel rejecting the move, Bayern Munich’s interest in Nkunku remains, but a direct swap is now off the table.
What’s Next?
While Chelsea looks elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, Bayern Munich remains firm in their plans for Tel, considering him a key part of their future.
