Manchester United rounded off their post-season tour with a convincing 3-1 comeback victory against the Hong Kong national team at a packed Hong Kong Stadium on Friday.
Despite going behind early, the Red Devils responded with intensity and flair in the second half, showcasing the depth and promise of their youth setup.
⚽ First-Half Setback
Captain Bruno Fernandes started the game alongside Garnacho, Casemiro, and and Rasmus Højlund, offering fans a glimpse of United’s top-tier talent.
However, United were caught cold in the 19th minute when Hong Kong’s Juninho punished a defensive error to fire past veteran keeper Tom Heaton.
The hosts held firm for the rest of the half, defending their narrow lead with discipline.
🔁 Youthful Resurgence
Manager Ruben Amorim rang the changes at halftime, introducing a full second XI that featured several emerging talents.
The decision paid off quickly. Striker Chido Obi, still in his teens, netted the equalizer just five minutes into the second half—his first senior goal in United colors.
The young forward wasn’t done yet. In the 82nd minute, Obi struck again with a clinical header, turning the match on its head.
Deep into stoppage time, fellow prospect Ayden Heaven added a third to cap off the performance—also marking his first senior goal for the club.
🗣️ Manager’s Reaction
Ruben Amorim praised the team’s response after the defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars earlier in the week, noting the confidence shown by the young players.
“It was important to end the tour on a high. I’m pleased with the character shown today, especially from the youngsters. They’ve given us a glimpse of what the future holds.”

With this final friendly behind them, United’s players will head off for a short break before regrouping for pre-season preparations.
The club will now focus on strengthening the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The match came amid increasing uncertainty over Bruno Fernandes’ future at the club.
