Liverpool’s quest for a second Premier League title underlines a season of consistency and resilience, and the finish line could come sooner than expected.
Following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Leicester City—secured by a moment of brilliance from Trent Alexander-Arnold—Arne Slot’s side now stand on the cusp of clinching the championship.
With a commanding 13-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, the Reds only need one more win to be officially crowned champions.
However, they could wrap up the title even sooner if Arsenal stumble in their upcoming midweek fixture against Crystal Palace at the Emirates.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk has revealed that the Liverpool squad plans to watch the crucial game together on Wednesday night.
While hopeful, Van Dijk maintains a level-headed approach.
“We could be gathering,” he said. “I expect Arsenal to win at home, but if it doesn’t happen, then it would be nice for us all to be together.”
Such a gathering would not be without precedent.
In 2020, Liverpool players watched Manchester City lose to Chelsea—an event that confirmed the Reds as Premier League champions for the first time in 30 years.
This season has been nothing short of spectacular for Van Dijk and his teammates.
Reflecting on the journey, the Dutch defender admitted the club’s dominant position exceeded even his own expectations.
“I came in from a disappointing Euros, had just two and a half weeks off, and no preseason. Everything was uncertain at the start,” he said.
“But from day one, confidence grew. We saw what we were capable of and bought into the new regime.”
The key to Liverpool’s dominance? Consistency.
“It’s the hardest thing to achieve in football. But we found it early, and we’ve kept it. Being 13 points clear at this stage—it’s beyond my wildest dreams,” Van Dijk added.
With a home game against Tottenham looming, Liverpool have the perfect opportunity to seal the title in front of their fans.
But all eyes will first be on Arsenal’s showdown with Palace.
