Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has faced yet another blow in what has been a difficult period for the Dutch defender.

After Liverpool’s Champions League heartbreak against Paris Saint-Germain and a Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle, Van Dijk suffered another setback as the Netherlands were knocked out of the UEFA Nations League playoffs by Spain on penalties.

Van Dijk Opens Up on Recent Setbacks

The Liverpool star admitted that the series of defeats has taken a mental toll on him.

“Losing just hurts. It was a great football fight, but we are out. That’s disappointing. We could’ve made it, but unfortunately, Spain progressed.”

Despite the tough run, Van Dijk is determined to turn things around as Liverpool remain in the hunt for the Premier League title under Arne Slot.

With nine crucial league games left, Van Dijk insists there is no need for extra motivation.
