Match Preview
Juventus have made a strong statement in their first-ever Club World Cup appearance.
They opened with a dominant performance against Al-Ain, followed by a confident 4-1 win over Wydad AC in Philadelphia.
Young talent Kenan Yildiz has been the standout so far, scoring in both matches, including a brace against Wydad.
Though he came close to a hat-trick, one goal was later ruled an own goal by Wydad’s Abdelmounaim Boutouil.
Despite a tough Serie A season—where they drew 16 games—Juventus seem refreshed in the U.S., with new boss Igor Tudor guiding them to nine goals in two games.
The Italian side can secure top spot with just a draw, having won five and drawn two of their last seven across all competitions.
Their record against City is also encouraging: Juve have won their last three meetings, including a 2-0 win in the Champions League just last December.
Meanwhile, Manchester City, the 2023 Club World Cup winners, began their campaign with a routine 2-0 win over Wydad before dismantling Al-Ain 6-0 in Atlanta.
Despite scoring six goals, Pep Guardiola was left slightly frustrated—believing a seventh would have given his side an edge over Juventus in the goal difference race.
Ilkay Gundogan netted twice, while Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb, Claudio Echeverri, and new signing Rayan Cherki also found the back of the net.
City remain unbeaten in the tournament and are yet to concede a goal.
However, to avoid a potential last-16 clash with Real Madrid, City must now beat Juventus.
Guardiola’s side have only lost once in their last 15 games (W11 D3), but their history with Juve is less promising—they’ve only won once in seven meetings, way back in 1976.

Team News
Juventus will be without Mattia Perin (hand), Juan Cabal, Bremer (both knee injuries), and Arkadiusz Milik (muscle).
Captain Manuel Locatelli returned from an ankle issue to feature as a substitute against Wydad and could start, but Weston McKennie and Khephren Thuram may keep their places.
Tudor may stick with the same lineup for a third straight game, with Andrea Cambiaso and Alberto Costa at wing-back, supporting Yildiz, Francisco Conceicao, and Randal Kolo Muani up front.
Manchester City will again be without Rico Lewis, who is suspended. Claudio Echeverri is doubtful after picking up a twisted ankle.
Mateo Kovacic remains out after Achilles surgery, but Rodri—now back from a long ACL layoff—might finally start after two sub appearances.
New signings Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rayan Cherki are all available, while Ederson, Ruben Dias, Phil Foden, Savinho, and Omar Marmoush could return to the starting XI.
