Arsenal looked every bit like title challengers on Saturday afternoon as they brushed aside Nottingham Forest with a commanding 3-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.
A first-half strike and a second-half header from Martin Zubimendi, plus a well-taken finish from Viktor Gyökeres, sealed the points and delighted the home crowd.
Arsenal Take Control Early
The game began with Arsenal on the front foot, moving the ball quickly and stretching Forest’s defence.
Chances came and went in the opening half-hour, but the breakthrough finally arrived in the 32nd minute.

When a loose ball fell to him just outside the box, he struck it first-time, smashing a volley past the Forest keeper to make it 1-0.
The Emirates erupted, and you could sense the confidence surge through the team.
Gyökeres Strikes Right After the Break
If Forest had hopes of fighting back in the second half, they didn’t last long.
Just one minute after the restart, Eberechi Eze slipped a clever pass into the path of Viktor Gyökeres, who made no mistake from close range.
At 2-0, the game already felt out of reach for the visitors.

It’s rare for a new signing to start this hot.

Forest did have a glimmer of hope when striker Chris Wood rattled the crossbar, but Arsenal keeper David Raya was alert all afternoon and made sure nothing slipped past him.
Zubimendi at the Double
With Arsenal firmly in control, the third goal came in the 79th minute.
This time it was Leandro Trossard who whipped in a teasing cross, and Zubimendi timed his run perfectly to head home his second of the day.
It was the icing on the cake and a performance that will make fans believe they have found a true midfield leader.
Ødegaard Injury Worry
Not everything was perfect for Arsenal.
Captain Martin Ødegaard was forced off with a shoulder problem in the first half.
His replacement, teenager Ethan Nwaneri, showed maturity beyond his years and slotted into midfield well, but Arsenal will be waiting anxiously for news on their skipper’s fitness.
Standout Performers
- Martin Zubimendi: Two goals and total control in midfield — a man-of-the-match display.
- Viktor Gyökeres: Worked tirelessly and got his reward with a smart finish.
- Eberechi Eze & Leandro Trossard: Both heavily involved in creating chances.
- David Raya: Safe hands when called upon, helping Arsenal keep another clean sheet.
What the Result Means
The win lifts Arsenal to nine points from their first four Premier League matches, moving them to the top of the table on goal difference.
For Nottingham Forest, it was a difficult start under new boss Ange Postecoglou, who will know his team needs time to settle and adjust to his style.
Final Thoughts
This was a performance Arsenal fans will be proud of.
Even without their captain for most of the match, they played with confidence, energy, and quality.
Zubimendi’s brace showed that he is already becoming a key player, while the attacking options around him look sharper with every game.
