Manchester United’s Europa League heartbreak was tough to take—but even tougher for Alejandro Garnacho, who watched most of the final from the bench.

United fell 0-1 to Spurs, and many fans have pointed the finger at manager Ruben Amorim. His big call?

Starting the out-of-form Rasmus Højlund up front, while Garnacho—arguably the team’s most explosive forward—was left on the sidelines until the 71st minute.

When Garnacho did come on, he made an immediate impact, testing Tottenham’s goalkeeper with a powerful shot. But it was too little, too late.

Amorim’s Call Backfires

In his post-match comments, Amorim defended his decision, referencing past performances and hinting that Garnacho had missed key chances in earlier games.

Instead, he started Mason Mount out wide and stuck with Højlund, who struggled once again.

That didn’t sit well with Garnacho—or his family.

The winger’s brother took to social media to slam Amorim, and Garnacho himself didn’t hold back in the mixed zone after the game.

“Our season was sh*t”

Speaking bluntly, the 20-year-old said:

“Obviously it’s hard for everyone. Our season was sh*t. We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don’t score goals, you always need more.

Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today—I don’t know.”

Ouch.

What’s Next for Garnacho?

Rumors are swirling that INEOS might cash in on Garnacho this summer.

They reportedly want £65 million, and unlike in January, Amorim might not stand in the way.

At just 20, Garnacho still has tons of potential. Yes, his finishing needs polish, but he’s a raw talent with the kind of fire fans love.

Whether he stays at Old Trafford could depend on what happens behind the scenes this summer.
