If Arsenal don’t lose to Southampton (who are already being relegated), they will finish second place in the Premier League for the third year in a row.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he feels “unsatisfied and upset” because his team will finish the season without winning a big trophy.
Arteta gave an emotional speech to fans at the Emirates Stadium after Arsenal’s final home game of the season — a 1-0 win against Newcastle.
That win means Arsenal will play in the Champions League next season. But it’s been five years since Arsenal last won a major trophy — the FA Cup in 2020.
This season, Arsenal:
- Finished second in the Premier League, behind Liverpool.
- Lost in the Champions League and Carabao Cup semi-finals.
- Were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round.
Arteta, who has been manager since December 2019, says he’s ready to give everything to help Arsenal win again.
“Liverpool have a trophy. We don’t. That hurts,” Arteta said. “We’re not happy. We’re upset. But I believe we’re heading in the right direction.”
Arteta promised fans that he and the team will keep working hard:
“I will give my life for this. I’ll push everyone here to give their best.”
When asked if fans still support him, Arteta said:
“I feel they do. But they want more. We all want more. And we need to believe we can do it—together.”
A Message to the Fans
After the final whistle, many fans had already started leaving the stadium when Arteta came onto the pitch.

He thanked those who stayed:
“We had a dream—to win trophies this season and bring joy to you. We couldn’t do it, for many reasons.”
“But we must keep chasing that dream with energy and hope for next season.”
“We want to start building our own history here. We’ve made progress this season, but there’s more to do.”
Arteta praised his players’ talent and said the team needs to rest, play the final game against Southampton, then get ready for next season.
