Arsenal may soon get the chance to sign the striker they’ve been after—and for £20 million less than before.
The Gunners have been looking to add more attacking players since last summer.
Although they signed Raheem Sterling on loan at the last minute, they didn’t bring in another full-time striker.
This became a problem when both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were injured and missed the rest of the 2024/25 season.
Many fans and even Arsenal players, including Declan Rice and captain Martin Ødegaard, said the team needed more options up front.
Manager Mikel Arteta also admitted he wanted to bring in a new striker in January, but a deal didn’t happen.
Because of the injuries and lack of depth, Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes fell apart. They finished second, ten points behind Liverpool.
Now, with the summer transfer window coming up, Arsenal are looking again.
They’ve been linked to top strikers like Benjamin Šeško, Alexander Isak, and Viktor Gyökeres.
But there’s another name back in the picture—Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.

Back in January, Arsenal offered £40 million for Watkins, but Aston Villa said no, asking for £60 million instead.
