Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces a major selection headache after losing Kai Havertz for the remainder of the season.
With the club already short on attacking options, the Gunners may be forced to explore the free-agent market to bolster their squad.
Havertz suffered a hamstring tear during Arsenal’s mid-season training camp in Dubai, leaving Arteta without a recognized senior striker.
With no new forward secured in the January transfer window, the manager now faces a tough decision: reshuffle his squad to cover the void or bring in an out-of-contract player to fill the gap.
When questioned about the possibility of signing a free agent, Arteta remained open-minded. “We’ll explore every possible situation and make a decision from there,” he said, refusing to rule out an emergency signing.
Who Could Arsenal Sign?
The list of available strikers is limited, but some experienced names could provide a short-term fix:
- Carlos Vela – The former Gunner, now 35, has vast experience but hasn’t played in Europe for years.
- Diego Costa – A seasoned Premier League striker, though his recent stint at Wolves in 2022 was underwhelming.
- Other Free Agents – Arsenal may need to get creative, looking beyond traditional options to find a suitable replacement.
With the club still fighting for silverware, securing a reliable goal scorer will be crucial.
