Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are playing in a massive football final — the Europa League Final in Bilbao, Spain.
The winner gets more than just a trophy. They also earn a spot in next season’s Champions League and a lot of money — around £100 million!
Even though both teams haven’t done well in the Premier League this season, this final is a chance to turn things around.
Different Ways to Prepare
Both teams have taken different approaches to get ready.
Tottenham’s coach, Ange Postecoglou, rested most of his main players in their last match.
He wants to make sure they are fresh and not injured. The team even had a team barbecue to relax and bond before flying to Bilbao.
Manchester United, coached by Ruben Amorim, played most of their best players in their last game. Amorim thinks it’s better to keep the players competing so they stay sharp.
Spurs arrived in Bilbao early and are staying in a hotel in the center of the city. United arrived a day later and are staying a bit further away.
While Spurs will train in the stadium before the match, United will just walk around it.
What Happens on Game Day?
On the day of the game, players usually rest, have team meetings, and maybe take a walk before heading to the stadium.
Former United player Gary Pallister remembers how important his captain, Bryan Robson, was before big games. Robson’s calm attitude helped the whole team feel more confident.
France’s World Cup winner Lilian Thuram also shared how important it is to stay focused.
In 1998, France beat Brazil in the final and won the World Cup.
Thuram said they blocked out the noise and drama and just focused on playing their best.
Why This Final Matters
Winning this match could change everything for either team. It could start a new chapter, just like it did for Manchester United in 1990.
That year, winning the FA Cup gave them the confidence to win more trophies in the years that followed.
For France, winning the World Cup in 1998 brought the country together and inspired people of all backgrounds.
Now, it’s time to see if Tottenham or Manchester United can do the same — lift a trophy, spark change, and create memories that last forever.
