João Pedro scores on his Chelsea debut!

It was a night to remember for Chelsea fans as the Blues beat Brazilian team Fluminense 2-0 to book a spot in the Club World Cup final.
And the star of the show? Joao Pedro—a new signing who didn’t waste any time making a big impact.
A Dream Debut for Joao Pedro
Joao Pedro, just 23 years old, was playing his first full game for Chelsea—and he did it in style.
He scored twice, once in each half.
His first goal came after a smart move down the wing, and the second was a rocket shot that hit the bar and went in.
Funny enough, Joao grew up supporting Fluminense, so scoring against them must’ve felt a little weird—but also pretty special.
Chelsea Cashing In
Chelsea are not just winning on the pitch, they’re winning off it too.
So far, they’ve made over £80 million from this tournament, and if they win the final, it could rise to almost £100 million.
Not bad for a week’s work!
Joao Pedro alone is already starting to repay the £55 million Chelsea paid Brighton for him just last week.
Other Highlights
- Christopher Nkunku had a few chances to score but just couldn’t find the net.
- Marc Cucurella was alert and made a crucial goal-line clearance to keep the clean sheet.
- Fluminense thought they had a penalty in the first half, but after a VAR check, the ref changed his mind.
- It was seriously hot at the stadium—35°C—but Chelsea handled the heat like pros.
One Worry for Chelsea
The only downside of the night was a late injury to Moises Caicedo.
He looked to have twisted his ankle and had to walk off in the final minutes. Chelsea will be hoping it’s nothing serious.
What’s Next?
Chelsea now wait to see who they’ll face in the final—Real Madrid or PSG.
That big game takes place this Sunday, again at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Fluminense, on the other hand, will return to Brazil and focus on league games against Mirassol and Cruzeiro.
Who Impressed the Most?
- Joao Pedro – No surprise here. Two goals on debut and man of the match.
- Pedro Neto – Gave the assist for the first goal and has been one of Chelsea’s best throughout the tournament.
- Enzo Fernandez & Cucurella – Both played really well.
- Nkunku – Looked sharp and confident, even with transfer rumors swirling around him.
Final Thoughts
Chelsea took this competition seriously, and it’s paying off.
Playing in extreme heat, traveling across the world, and adding more games to an already busy season—it’s not easy.
But now, they’re one game away from lifting a trophy and bringing more glory (and cash) back to Stamford Bridge.
Let’s see if they can finish the job on Sunday.
