Tottenham Hotspur has been fined £75,000 by the Football Association (FA) according to a report from BBC Sports.
This happened because some of the team’s fans were caught chanting homophobic words during a match against Manchester United.
The match took place last September at Manchester United’s stadium, Old Trafford. Tottenham won the game 3-0.
However, during the second half, fans were heard making chants that were offensive to people based on their sexual orientation.

These chants happened around the 49th and 79th minutes of the game.
After the match, Tottenham spoke out strongly against the chants.
The club said the behavior was “abhorrent” and “simply unacceptable.”
They also promised to take serious action to stop this from happening again.
The FA later investigated and decided that Tottenham had broken a rule called FA Rule E21.
This rule is about how fans should behave during games. Because of this, the FA gave Tottenham a fine of £75,000.
Why This Matters
Football is a sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world.
Fans from many backgrounds, ages, and identities come together to watch and support their teams.
That’s why it’s important that stadiums are safe and respectful places for everyone.
When fans chant hurtful or hateful things, it can make others feel unsafe or unwelcome.
That’s not what football should be about. The FA hopes this fine will remind clubs and fans to be respectful and kind — both on and off the field.
What Tottenham Is Doing
Tottenham says they are working hard to stop this kind of behavior.
They are planning to identify fans who took part in the chanting and may ban them from future games.
The club has also promised to educate fans about why these kinds of chants are wrong.
