Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their pursuit of Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus, submitting a formal £55 million bid to West Ham United, according to reports from transfer expert Graeme Bailey.
However, the bid was swiftly rejected by the Hammers, who are holding out for at least £65 million.
This was Spurs’ second approach for the 24-year-old after their initial £50 million offer was also turned down.
While the new bid brings them closer to West Ham’s valuation, the East London side remain firm, pointing to Kudus’ £84 million release clause as justification for their stance.
Kudus: A Versatile Talent in High Demand
Currently seen as Tottenham’s top attacking target, Kudus has emerged as a dynamic option for manager Thomas Frank, who is keen to reshape the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
With Heung-min Son nearing the end of his contract and possibly on his way out following the club’s pre-season tour in South Korea, Tottenham are preparing for the future.
The club has already secured Mathys Tel on a permanent deal and boast attacking options such as Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, and Dejan Kulusevski, but they view Kudus as a potential game-changer.
Player’s Desire Could Tip the Scales
According to sources close to the negotiations, Kudus is keen on making the switch to North London, seeing Spurs as the right next step in his career.
West Ham, on the other hand, are open to selling if their asking price is met, with funds from the sale intended to strengthen other areas of the squad.
Kudus, who can play on either flank or in the attacking midfield role, is known for his quick feet, technical sharpness, and ability to create chances in tight spaces.
He also boasts a powerful shot, making him a threat from distance.
Despite a somewhat inconsistent campaign last season, the Ghana international is still regarded as one of the most promising attackers in the Premier League.
Tottenham Lead the Chase – For Now
While other clubs remain interested, Spurs are currently in the strongest position to secure Kudus’ signature.
Negotiations remain ongoing, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will return with a third bid that meets West Ham’s valuation.
