Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged caution over talk of a historic quadruple, despite his side’s dominant 4-0 victory over Tottenham, which secured a League Cup final spot against Newcastle.
Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League by six points, have also reached the Champions League last-16 and will face Plymouth in the FA Cup fourth round.
With the team competing on multiple fronts, comparisons to previous seasons have resurfaced, but Van Dijk insists they must stay focused.
“We’re not thinking about a quadruple,” he told CBS Sports. “Every game is tough, and we need to take it one step at a time. The goal is to win every match, not to chase a dream.”
Liverpool has come close to an unprecedented quadruple before, most notably in 2021-22, when they won both domestic cups but fell short in the Premier League and Champions League.
Van Dijk emphasized the importance of staying grounded to avoid a similar fate.
After sealing their Wembley return, Liverpool now shift their focus to upcoming league and cup fixtures, determined to sustain their title challenge while staying realistic about their ambitions.
