Viktor Gyokeres, a top goal-scorer from Sweden, really wants to play for Arsenal, a big football club in England.
Right now, he plays for Sporting CP, a team in Portugal.
Another club, Juventus (from Italy), also wanted to sign him and offered a lot of money.
But Gyokeres said “no” because he dreams of playing in the English Premier League.
What’s Going On?
Gyokeres’s agent (the person who helps with his career deals) told Juventus that Viktor has already made up his mind — he only wants Arsenal.
Even though Juventus offered Sporting a huge deal, Gyokeres chose Arsenal because he believes it’s a step forward in his career.
Money Talk
- Sporting CP wants €80 million for Gyokeres.
- Arsenal offered less than that, so no deal yet.
- Juventus offered €70 million, but Gyokeres still said no.
- The player has a €100 million release clause (the price any team must pay if they want to buy him without Sporting’s permission).
- There’s also a rule in his contract: If any team offers €60 million or more and Sporting says no, then Gyokeres’s agent gets 10% of that bid.
So, the pressure is on!
Why Arsenal?
Gyokeres loves the Premier League. He thinks playing in England is every boy’s dream.
Last season, he scored 54 goals, which is a big deal! Arsenal would be lucky to have him.
What About Juventus?
Juventus now has to look for a different striker.
One option is Jonathan David, a player who recently left Lille and is a free agent.
Juventus needs someone soon because their main striker, Dusan Vlahovic, may leave.
Did You Know?
- Gyokeres joined Sporting in 2023 from Coventry City.
- He cost €20 million back then.
- He’s now 27 years old and one of the top scorers in Europe.
What’s Next?
Arsenal still hasn’t decided if Gyokeres is their first choice.
They are also looking at other strikers, like Benjamin Sesko.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens!
